View Full Version : GeForce2 Underclocking?
After implementing the Coolbits tweak to unlock the video clock capability, is it possible to underclock it to compensate for a FSB overclock?
I've been trying to oc my cpu to beyond FSB 124, but believe that the video is the weakest link (see thread re: Xtasy GeForce2 GTS oc limit?).
its possible to underclock using the coolbits but i dont see how it would help you if the video card is really stucking the system at certain FSB. what is the default FSB of the system?
i think 124MHz of FSB for a 100 default isnt still too high for the AGP. id check for other component (like RAM for ex) if the system default FSB is 100MHz.
Thanks for the reply. I've already looked at a few elements (please see my last thread "Visiontek Xtasy GeForce2 GTS oc limit?" on 12/6 for a more detailed problem description). The RAM I'm using should hold up to better ocing. Here's my config:
cpu: P3 550E (Coppermine)
cpu temp: 91 F
mobo: Abit BE6-II v2
RAM: 2 x 256 Mb Micron PC133 2-2-2
HDD: IBM Deskstar 60GXP (60 Gb) @ ATA100
SCSI: Adaptec 2940AU
NIC: Linksys NC100
Sound: SB Live! 5.1
Video: Visiontek Xtasy GeForce2 GTS 32Mb (using latest NVidia 23.11 drivers)
OS: Win XP Pro
The fact that as I approach FSB 133 I get video artifacts until I actually reach 133 and get screen freeze - makes me suspicious of the GeForce2.
