View Full Version : thermaltake waterblock on AM2 socket?
The block in question is this (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/2005/watercooling/cl-w0010waterblock/cl-w0010.htm). it doesnt say am2 compatible, but the bracket it comes with looks exactly like the bracket for the swiftech apogee gt (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5400/ex-blc-333/Swiftech_Apogee_GT_Extreme_Performance_Universal_C PU_Waterblock_Socket_462478603604754775939940AM2.h tml?tl=g30c85s140). I will be using 3/8ths ID or possibly 1/2" ID for a x2 brisbane 1.9ghz, which is supposedly a cool running cpu. The processor and mobo are coming in within the week so I want to know if i need to get a new waterblock or not and have less down time. thanks.

No, it won't work with AM2 if the mounting is as pictured. The AM2 socket does not have the two mounting holes that were used with 939/754 sockets. You need to get a waterblock that either uses the 4 AM2 mounting holes, or clips onto the existing motherboard bracket.
oh ok. any suggestions for blocks to use and where to get them? i heard the brisbane goes to about 2.8Ghz, hoping that water will help it go past that.

are you upgrading your rad as well? because that radiator is quite... bad.

Yea a rad upgrade wouldn't hurt.
I would imagine that you should hit 3Ghz+ with water on that combo. If you have any questions or comments on the TForce550 board, check out this thread:
