go with tha AMD. It has a lot more potential overclocking wise and (a duron 650 will almost definatly pass 1ghz) and will also be a lot cheaper than the PIII 733. Also you may be hard pressed finding a motherboard that supports DDR ram for a pIII (im not even sure if they make them). So i would deffinatly go with AMD

oh gawd.....I can see I'll be moving this one to debates soon. =)
Fact is, AMD is a lot more fun to play with, cheaper and runs almost as good as an Intel.
Intel is an excellent processor that is severely overpriced. How much money do you want to spend?
Oi lets try to not make this turn into a debate.
But for a good price I'd go with AMD good performance good DDR support as well as the performance is excellent but make sure you get an awsome heatsink so you won't bump into any AMD heat issues.
AMD XP 1900+ looks good or the new Duron 1.1 Morgan core.
since you want ABIT then check out this site:

AMD!!! better value, easier to OC. Athlon XP Performs on par with P4's in most tests. Check CPU database for good CPU/MoBo OC combinations. Get a good motherboard above all else!! I use a Shuttle AK31 v3.1, it was cheap and works well, but is not as overclockable as some others. For DDR boards, be sure you get the KT266a chipset, not just the KT266
Oki guyz for ya all to know np with money, but Abit is what i want due i hear theyr really good, im going to bild a oil cooled system so no heat problems should acure (system idle should be-30degrees celsius) but i think i dont need really faaster cpu i have or do i ? i think i can clock my existing procesor (733@1500) with np or do i ?
Oil cooled u ask look it up the subject is here somwere i read it in oc ...
and im werry familiar with amd and PIII diferences but does it pay of to change ur cpu due a little advantage and lose a lot of $ or does PIII hang in there and i should buy a new graphics card what u ppz think about this
