Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right Nintendo?

No this is not Cobalt, just proof that Cobalt was for real. EVERYBODY has been speculating/anticipating/ flat out KNEW this was coming. Sony will deny this of course until a month before it hits the shelves so that people like me won't hold off until the better one is released before getting a PSP. I WAS going to look for a used one, but now I'll wait until the PSP-lite is released.

Now if only they had made a Turbo-Express-Lite........

Interesting, I'm not totally surprised but I don't think that the form factor is what has been stopping the PSP from doing better...I mean in Nintendo's case the DS lite was needed but I always thought the PSP was a well polished machine.

/\I agree, the main issue I think right now is titles out for it. Sony set out to create your PS2 experience in your hands and honestly they have done pretty well at it, however Sony did not seem to think of the fact that people already have a PS2 and do not want to just play remakes of all their old games. Anyway not really a surprise, handhelds are redesigned pretty often. (Nintendo is on the second since the release of the PSP correct?)

Bad move Fudge. BELIEVE ME you want that used PSP. Otherwise, how on earth are you ever going to play Zelda on the PSP?

Another annoying thing I first noticed playing fighting games, is that I sometimes turn the power off in the middle of a fight. The power button shouldn't be so close to your palm so that normal play causes you to turn off the system!

Oh yeah, and they're keeping UMD. :bang head

Forget UMD, I wish they'd just stick a SD card slot on one, Memory Stick is the suxx.....but you know why they use it.....sigh

Not to sound like an anti-Sony comment but I think Sony would rather see their product fail miserably than try to make it more successful and consumer centric by ditching their made by Sony storage formats (UMD,MS) in favor of something more popular and less expensive like SD.

I never noticed the UMD load times... Then again I never really played that many actual UMDs. When you can backup the UMD *directly* onto a memory stick... and play it at about fifteen times the speed... then why bother? That way your UMD just becomes a backup. I have three memory sticks, and I can fit up to three games on a stick (depending on the game), so I really don't even know where most of my originals ARE. (Well my case holds two memory sticks, and two UMDs, and the PSP holds one of each.

Also, I'm not buying the stuff about the power button and fighting games... I've been DEEP into Tekken and you'd need skin sponsored by the Fantastic Four in order to turn the PSP off in ANY game. I have more of a problem moving the volume switch by accident on the DS Lite than I do with anything on the PSP. (The DS volume switch will glide at the slightest touch, but if you just nudge the PSP... it won't do anything. You'd have to *slide* it... and not just a little, but all the way up to the top. And even then you'd have to hold it there for 5 seconds for it to turn off COMPLETELY... otherwise you could just move it to the top again and pick off exactly where you left off.)

Yeah. That wouldn't be possible with the PSP... not the current one at least. The volume is controlled by two buttons on the top that are next to impossible to touch without trying reaaaaaaaaaaaal hard...

On a positive note, the new PSP might be featuring 8 gigs of internal storage.
