I'm getting it after I gets PAID tomorrow. Please post a review though to let me know if it's a waste of time or not. Gamespot loved the controlls but only game it a 7.8 which isn't bad but I was expecting more.

gamespot always gives Wii titles lower scores than everyone else they are clearly biased. But I did see IGN give it a 7.0 so...dunno would love to hear user feedback because this was looking like it was going to be good, and I don;t trust the online reviews opinions that much these days but with fairly low scores it makes me wonder if EA didn't polish this.

Gamespot said "It's basicly the PS2 version with the Wii-mote". What were they expecting, 360 or PS3 level graphics? Not going to happen.

By that, are they referring to the graphics, or the control scheme.

If it's the graphics, there won't be much surprise. If it's the control scheme, then we could have some trouble. It's not going to be a good game if the controls feel like a tacked-on, last minute thing.

...but the graphics should be at least xbox level, I mean we should get better than that...but at least at that level. There's a large Wii base, it's a serious console so developers should start developing seriously for it not keep recycling PS2 engines.

They were referring to the graphics Oni. They said they liked the control scheme quite a bit, but I think they penalized it for not having 360/PS3 quality graphics. They shouldn't do this with the Wii as the graphics and CPU is still probably weaker than the Xbox1, they should base it on what it is made for, the fun factor.

Have you played it yet, Lunchbox (;))? How are the controls?

I've not played it yet. I was hoping Springbok would give us some insight on it. I went to rent it last night but they didn't have it for the Wii yet. I suppose I'll get it this weekend unless I hear that it sucks.

I hope not, I mean it might not blow the xbox out of the water but a power PC @ 729mhz should run better than a 733mhz celeron from 5 years ago, maybe not excessively but the Video card should allow games to be noticeably better looking just the fact that it allows for newer pixel shaders and HDR.

Ouch my ouch my shoulder hurts!!!!

But man is the game tight. Not really all there truely with the graphics, but I'm on a regular a/v cable no HD:( But controls are easy to work with, you don't need to swing as hard as you think you need to though. Just practice a grip, and you should be good. It is a grip of fun i just played it for about 1hr now at home by my self and it was sweet. But thats my view on the game. love the announcers though. "He better close his eyes on this one." :( then the ball went slpoosh. Guess i need more practice.

When aiming your shot(holding down A) you and press and hold the B button to grab the target and move it to the desired location. Up and down on the direction pad changes the club you want to hit with. left and right on the d pad rotate the hitting stance of the player. Press an hold B and pull the wiimote back like a real swing(fast) then swing forward all while holding down the B button once ball is hit let go of the button. You can also mod you player stats ei: power. spin, putt, luck, and so on. Design your own look of the player, its pretty cool. All that i just described are for the wiimote control there are different controls for swing and stuff with the nunchuck. I find the controller to be the best way, You also need to keep the wiimote level for the best results. I just need more practice.

Fun factor my ass... Didn't Game... what the hell was the name of that magazine? Gameplay? Whatever... didn't they go out of business?

Don't think you've heard the end of comparisons with the 360/PS3 because... as I've only mentioned sixty THOUSAND times now... THEY'RE IN THE SAME CONSOLE GENERATION. And Tiger Woods is available for the other consoles to. So when it comes down to people like... say... YOU who have both consoles and want to know which version to get... they're going to give you an opinion based on that.

And maybe I'm the only one who appreciate's that the reviewers haven't let Nintendo's "Disney Magic" cloud their judgement. I mean... what *exactly* do you expect them to say?

"The graphics in Tiger Woods aren't really any good, but you can't hold that against them because we like the control scheme."

That doesn't make any sense. Nobody's complaining about God of War II's graphics... for example.

EDIT: "Gamepro"! That was it... those degenerate losers with that horrible TV show and that guy I always wanted to beat the cowboy snot out of... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GamePro

Now, Rainman, I don't base a game's enjoyability solely on graphics. I'm sure the 360 and PS3 would beat the living **** out of the Wii as far as graphics go, but that does not necisarilly make it a better game. Just as I preferred many a DreamCast game over PS2 and Xbox. The Wiimote is a FUN FUN FUN interface and I'll GLADLY suffer a bit of graphics power for it. Now, if the 360 had a motion sensitive wireless golf club that worked well, then that may be an entirely different story.

Oh I comepletely agree with you on the point that graphics aren't everything... I'm just saying you can't say that graphics don't COUNT either. You could say... for example "this is the best game of golf ever created if only for the unique control scheme..." That would be completely acceptable. But you can't say "We won't even mention this game's graphics because graphics don't really mean anything..." ...because they do.

All I'm saying is that if the gameplay in Tiger Woods was GOOD ENOUGH... then the game would be getting reviews that were at LEAST an eight. But an average... or even slightly above average game with last generation graphics and a next generation price, shouldn't expect anything more than what Tiger Woods (or SSX for that matter...) got.

It will be hard to play on Wii more challenging with that Wii-mote I really want to get this on my 360 played the demo and I enjoyed it. Golf games I don't mind I used to rock at PGA Tour Golf 3 on the Mega Drive years ago kept me happy and intrested.

The funny thing is they weren't refering to the graphics, they were comparing the whole game to the PS2 version, graphics and play modes, etc...

As stated, they liked the controls for the most part, the game just isn't any better than 7/10 on any system.

ps I do love the fact that slice and hook are somewhat reproducable. Very nice for the motion sensor.

Maybe it's ok I bought Super Swing Golf since Tiger doesn't seem to be any sort of replacement for it. I have had a ton of fun playing that game once you get the swing mechanics down.

Hey guys, had a busy week and only got one round of 18 holes in so far! Like it has been mentioned, the graphics aren't anything to write home about. It's like they ported PS2 graphics and dumbed them down without bothering to recode them. The graphics are just awful, but once again the Wii succeeds in fun-factor.

I've never had an interest in playing the other Tiger Woods games simply because of the control scheme. With the Wii I can really imagine myself on a golf course staring down at the little white ******* I'm about to club. If I sat down and played it on my neighbor's 360, HD graphics won't make me feel like I'm actually in the game. It makes every shot a real challenge, not just an objective to complete. If I hit a good shot it feels like I hit it, not just Tiger on the screen, and the game is far more rewarding that way.

I have to agree with you on everything except i wouldn't say the graphics are horrible. But yea nothing to write home about though. They are Ok to decent. But the fun fact if what makes the game. I would rather stand up and actually swing the, like you would if you are really playing golf, then sit on my A$$ and eat chips and drink soda and play it by hitting buttons only. To me it's much better on the WII. Once again WII= Fun Factor. I think they could of done better only on the graphics the actual game play is pretty good. They incorporated all the physics of wind and what not to actually effect the shot.

I just rented it tonight and maybe I need more practice, but I have to say that I think the swing mechanics in the game are rather sloppy. The control over your swing direction and power seem to be better in WiiSports golf. Tiger Woods adds the ability to hook/shank a ball by not keeping the Wiimote straight though. The graphics are definately last gen. The courses don't look too bad but Tiger looks as much like Rudy from Fat Albert as he does Tiger Woods. Needless to say, I'm not impressed. Maybe after more game time my opinion will change. If it does not, then I'll rent ONI'S favorite, Super Swing Away Golf (or whatever it's called).

I spent a bit longer with TWG for Wii today and I have to say that IMO it sucks. The controlls aren't precise, in fact they're clumsy and inaccurate. Another great idea screwed up due to sloppy programming and poor execution by Electronic Arts.

Springbok

Really? I still find it enjoyable even though it's not as precise as I imagined. I'm pretty good at nailing the 110% drive and sinking putts less than 42ft. Chips really frustrate me but other than that it's gravy.

Fudge: Do you golf? If you golf, and expect it to be golf you'll be sorely disappointed.

if you golf, and you expect it to be fun you may enjoy it;). IMO, I'd prefer Super Swing Golf, because it's more clever/comical/enjoyable from a gameplay experience, but my dad would love Tiger Woods, because it's more "Real"

I need to pick up a Wii, maybe in a few months...

I don't golf, but I've played in real golf simulators before where you actually whack the ball into the screen with a real club. The mechanics in Tiger woods ae just plain crap. The mechanics in WiiSports golf are a LOT better save for the ability to tilt the controller left or right to hook it.

Wondering what others think of this. We have a family Wii at the In-Laws and its sitting there. I know I haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet but I wouldn't mind.

BTW I suck at Golf itself, everyone better be wearing protection, but at least the Wii Sports Golf I wasn't half bad at. Look forward to at least trying this game.

I've played a lot of golf and I know my swing, I find that half the people that play have a really hard time hitting the ball straight. I find that my drives almost always go straight at 110% and putting is natural, the only thing I find hard to gauge is the chip shots.

I think it'll be a while before programmers... especially ELECTRONIC ARTS' slave-driven programmers... Find their way around the Wiimote...

This is the difference between Nintendo making a Wii game and somebody else making a Wii game.
