Has anyone bought one of these.
It seems you can save $140 on a Dell ultrasharp 2407. I have a refurbished video card that works just fine so is there a reason not to go the refurb route with a widescreen monitor?

There might be a few scratches or smudges on the plastic frame itself, but the screen and it's display is guaranteed to be perfect. Not at bad deal if you're looking to buy close to new :)

Well, I took a chance and ordered one. I will let you all know how it turns out.

Where do you see the 2407 for $140? It's listed as $559 to me. Infact, most of those prices are barely less than retail on sale deals.

Think you can SAVE UP to 140$, not priced for 140$

Right, $559 +tax and free shipping came to $598.
That saved me $150 over buying new.

Do the refurbs come with the super cross-ship 3-year Dell warranty?

It looks like there is conflicting data on the warranty.
In several places it says that the warranty is the same (3 years) as new products. There is one place where it says there is a 90 day warranty.
I tried calling but it seems the phone center is closed for the night. I'll ask Dell tomorrow.

Edit: Confirmed that it is the standard three year warranty.

The monitor came today. I plugged it in and turned it on and changed resolution to 1920x1200. Everything looks perfect. I played a few minutes each of HL2, Far Cry and Oblivion. It seems I may have had my 7900 GT clocked too high (550/750) for the widescreen resolution because I got some static screens when changing maps in all three games. Running at stock (450/660) everything worked normally.

From the way it was packaged, you could tell that it had been opened before, but I have not found any dead pixels or scratches. So far I am very pleased with the purchase.

Mmm refurb 2407WFP and 2007FP for <$900 is very tempting.

I've found as a general rule that refurbs can be better than new. They have to tweak and inspect each one individually rather than just have it roll off a line and into a box like the new ones.

I think the only problem with refurbs, or the ones Ive considered buying in the past, is that little disclaimer at the bottom for some products that says " we don't guarantee that said product wont have cosmetic damage" or something like that. For a monitor that just wont do.

I could have gotten my VX922 from Newegg as a refurb almost $100 cheaper than I eventually payed but it had that disclaimer that will keep you up at night until it arrives and you can see for yourself. In the end it just wasnt worth the chance.

The difference from your example in this case is Dell's warranty exchange as opposed to Newegg's.

Update: reinstalling Nvidia 93.71 drivers after running driver cleaner pro removed all the anomalies I was seeing. The monitor is working perfectly.

Yes, the warranty made this purchase pretty easy to do.

I bought the 2007WFP off of the Dell Outlet back in January, and this thing is rock solid. This is the best monitor I've ever had the pleasure of using. No cosmetic damage, 0 dead pixels, 3 year warranty. What else could a guy want?
