A lot of people have a old copper chipset coolers laying around. well put it to work. I used an old cooper orb cooler and took the top and fan off. then I braised 3/8 cooper pipe to the base with 15% silver briasing rod. I bent the cooper tubing to clear the vid card. the results are respectable.

Funky. What was the temp before and what is it now?

Could you post a picture of it in action? I am having a hard time figuring out what you actually use this for.

hes using it as a chipset cooler... the pipe wicks away the heat from the chipset because water runs through it.

The copper pipe I braised on is 3/8 pipe and my water cooling tubing will fit nice and snug. On my DFI NF4 board the video card goes right over the stock chipset cooler actualy sits on it making cooling the chipset difficult. This is thin enough to sit under the card and the pipe as you can see goes arround the card. I will get some pics later. :)

This would most likey work as well. If you made the pipe a bit longer and briased the ends closed with some R134a gas inside they would work like heat pipes.

Here is a couple more pics to explain better.

You can see there is not much room to play with once the video card is in. This will all be hooked up the my water chiller unit soon. I am waiting on a 8800gtx waterblock to arrive.

Oooooooooohhh, fjjfhsefhsufh. I thought it was supposed to be air cooling. Shows you what happens when I get only 5 hours sleep the past 3 days.

Nice work, I've got a dozen of those old chipset fans lying around, with no purpose.

What are chipset temps like compared to before?

Nice job. Where did you purchase that blue tubing from? Mcmastercarr?

this IS the water cooling / extreem cooling section

Temp dropped about 15c but this is in prepwork for hooking this chiller up to it all. Running at -20c

In the world of people like me without access to parts and tools to do this, sticking a pipe on a chipset cooler for air cooling IS extreme :) .

Nice setup

good idea! i was wondering if anyone would come up with a nb cooler for that dfi board. that nb cooler is in the worst position possible when it comes to aftermarket cooling.

I think the guy that designed the dfi first version board had a bad experience with north bridges and took his anger out on it with this board design.

Nice job did'nt realise how bad the positioning of the nb was i will be interested to see your temps when it is all hooked up.
