I'm looking to set up a SLI Rig for display in my shop. I'd like some of your opinions on the best bang for your buck video cards to run in SLI.

get something like 7900GTO's or 7900GT's
Will it be gamed on? If it will be, then SLI 8800GTS's are a pretty nice.

for 250, you should be able to get atleast some sort of 6800. Maybe 7600's.

if your lucky you might find a few 7900GS's for around $250-$300 if they are on sale.

This is what I have had my eye so far.. Anyone else have any opinions on these?
why would you buy 2x$150-$300 gfx cards when you can get 1 that spanks them both

To advertise SLI gaming rigs without dumping loads of cash for a computer that is basically for display (ok, and for when I get board :) )

Thanks Fr3@k3r ...Yah, that was my other pick... Not sure about the other cards but the fan on this card is pretty loud. I just installed one on a custom build for a customer last week. Great price though..

I say wait a few weeks for the 8600GTs. I think those are supposed to be right around $150 each, and they have DX10 capability.

A couple 7800GT's would still do the job nicely.

7800GTs were what was holding me over till I moved to vista and now I have 1 that doesn't do anything anymore :( oh well. If I cared enough I would get an SLI board just so I could have it enabled ;).
Also those 7300GTs are pretty sweet for the price range, I have one in my g/fs PC and she loves it. Does any gaming that she throws at it (only Guild Wars but hey).

Bang for the buck and SLI don't go together. You either get a high end 8800 SLUI system to get the best of the best or you go for a single GPU setup. Midrange SLI ist foolish.

I liked my 7600GT setup, and it's going up for sale in the next few days as well since I got an 8800GTS

99% of the time I'd agree with you (thats the same conclusion that I came to in my "SLI in a Nutshell" sticky), but I run FSX on two monitors, for which SLI helps a lot. A single 8800GTS gets surprisingly bogged down when trying to output to two monitors.

I plan on selling my sli 7900GT's in 2 to 4 months. Waiting to see what's to come around the corner and for what price. My approx price for that time will be no more tahn $280 for both cards then. If interested, pm me then. The 8800gtx is not worth an upgrade for me given I would'nt gain much peformance with my sli setup now. My cards hit 750+ core w/voltmod and watercooling.

Lets see if I can find that article...Ah, here's one: http://www.guru3d.com/news.php?cat=8&perpage=15#5084
Pricing of 8600GTS is around $200-250
8600GT is around $150-180
8500GT is around $90
I think Guru3D also had a pretty spiffy table comparing all of the G8x variants with prices, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...
April 17 is supposedly the release date for these boards. Here's another article: http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37974
