I am looking to buy a new microatx psu but I'm not sure what to buy. I have no experience with psu's so I'm looking for some recommendations. I am looking for something 300w + if possible. Just browsing through newegg they all seem really cheap. Would normal ATX psu work with a microatx board?

I have my pc pretty much just laying around my desk right now :)
Yes a normal ATX powersupply would work with an matx motherboard.
BUT you need to make sure that the powersupply you choose will fit into your case.
Many microAtx cases can only fit a microATX powersupply, and do not have room to fit a full sized supply.
If you're using a small ATX case, then you can fit any ATX supply you wish as long as the pins are the same (ya know 24 pin or 20 pin ATX connectors).
In short, the case you choose will determine which psu you need.
Once you know that, then you can worry about the usual list of recommended brand names.
Ohh my bad I thought he was looking a PSU for his Case:D Well if you need a PSU for your Micro ATX Board just make sure it will fit in your case 1st, then make sure what type of power pins have( if it has 20 or 24 see image below) then we recommend :D

I need a 20 pin connector.. I just need a basic PSU 300w+ is sufficient. Having a matx psu would be nice, but if a micro atx board fits in an atx case I don't care either way.
And just a stupid question, what is the 4 in the 20+4?
20+4 are psu connectors that work with either 20 or 24 pin motherboards because the 4 extra pins are in a separate clip that snaps to, and is removable from the main clip.
That doesn't mean the wires themselves are removable, you'd have 4 extra wires hanging out of the bundle if your motherboard only used 20.
My DFI uses only 20, but my psu is a 20+4 (Seasonic M-12 500). My power supply connector has room on the motherboard next to the socket, so I just left the extra 4 connected to the plug, but off to the end of the connector socket not doing anything.
You have to look close to tell they aren't being used.
