i purchased them a little under a year ago.. and it seems the right speaker is going dead or i did something..

Every time i plug in the headphones to the headphone port on the left speaker the right speaker goes dead. Thats because when i unplug the speaker plug it doesnt come back on like the right speaker.

if i move the headphone plug just right inside the speaker headphone jack it starts working again, but once and a while will fade off again.

is the headphone jack to blame for this? or should i just invest in new speakers?

i love my speakers, and they are the best speakers ive ownd for $75 ..

if they are going dead... i need a suggestion for a new speaker set..

2.1 or 2 channel only please.

Sounds like the headphone jack. :(

Klipsch makes a really good 2.1 set. A little pricey IMO but probably the best PC speakers available.

How much do you want to spend? Have an old stereo receiver lying around? You can check craigslist for a used stereo receiver, Ive seen some folks giving them away on there. Pair a second hand receiver with the cheap but good Insignia 6.5" bookshelves from Best Buy. They are excellent speakers for the price, and sound much better if you fill them with polyester batting (~$5 at a fabric store) to get rid of any echo they may have. The speakers will run you $60 to $80 depending on if theyre on sale or not, but will most certainly sound much better than PC speakers. If you have the room for such a configuration, go for it :).
