Just wondering but why does my Wii have such a hard time connecting to any Internet Related type of connection. Last night I went to the Wii Shop Channel so i could get a new VC (Ocarina of Time) and it sat there saying "Connecting Please Wait" it was taking forever so i left it on to test and went to bed. 7 hours later i get up and check it, its still sitting at the "Connecting Please Wait" and it does that nearly every time. Does this thing just not work well with routers with WEP 64-Bit encryption (D-Link DI-524 Rev.A Router) im tired of it not connecting. I have to reset the router and reset the connection on my Wii in order to connect. Am i not doing something here or am i just an unlucky one with a crap router.

Nothink works well with WEP encryption any more. Switch to WPA and you'll be fine. I had problems with all my stuff too when I initially went wireless and it was all due to WEP.
WEP works just fine on my Wii
What channel do you have your router on? My Wii will only connect on channel eleven or 1. If you don't have it on one of those channels, change it and see if that works.

well the thing will connect if i try again, it does in every channel pretty much. like it will go into the everybody votes channel get all the data but when i go to vote it says i dont have a connection. im like wtf? i hate encryptions there annoying nintendo needs a hardwire mode darn it.
There is a USB adapter that will work. I think it's Kingmax . . . King-something at any rate. I'll see if I can dig it up.

I don't have any problems with WEP on my network.

Don't even bother encrypting your network, just get some wierd SSID and don't broadcast the name. Saves all the problems with encryption.

Although, I find my Wii has extremely poor reception compared to my PS3 and both laptops that are in the house. (All are internal Wi-Fi NICs)

I had no problems with my WEP. As Oni said, it has to be on channel 1 or 11. That was my problem.

Change the channel. Wep works fine here and had the same issue. It was fixed by going to channel 1
