View Full Version : Drive C is running low on space...

Alright I'm using Windows 98SE. No I don't want to switch to XP because I don't want to pay 400+ dollars for it to use on both my computers...yadda yadda. Anyway I have both my computers set up with about a 650mb partition just for Windows. I figured this would be enough space. I don't install anything in it. There is currently about 70megs of space left on the partition. I think that is plenty of wasted space but apparently Windows constantly thinks it needs more. I have my internet temp cache turned low and I constantly clear the cookies, temp, etc. and yet Windows will sometimes tell me that it's running low on space and that I should clean some files up. I've tried checking the box that says don't automatically do a clean up when the drive runs low but that is not helpful. It basically tells me it's running low on space whenever I run a virus scan or perhaps when downloading something from the web. It's really just an annoyance but one I would like to get rid of. I plan on reformatting soon but I don't see why I should give Windows a bigger partition when it's not using the space it has. Any suggestions?

Don't you think thats a lil low.

Its Windows 98 expanding probably what EXACT programs do you have installed?

But it's not expanding really. I'm also not using a swap file so it's not like that's expanding and taking up the space. The space taken up always stays the same and whenever I install anything I put it in a separate partition. I'm guessing perhaps some parts of the installation might go to drive C or the registry might be getting bloated somewhat but it normally stays around 70megs free space. I don't see why I should give it more space to do nothing with.
