Ok my girlfriends earbuds that came with her ipod just crapped out and her birthday is coming up so I want to get her some new ones. Any recommendations for good ones. I dont really want to go over 100 bucks but I dont want anything crappy for $10.
I don't pretend to know a lot about earbuds, but my bro just got the Shure e2c for about $100. He seems to be satisfied.
Here's some links to help you out, though.
Try www.head-fi.org (http://www.head-fi.org) (there's a forum that seems to be pretty good here, but their website is a bit screwy right now. just click your way thru to the forums)
and
I don't know how recent this list is: http://www.headphonereviews.org/recommendations.php

You don't want to waist your money on shure e2c. The Sennheiser CX300 are what you are looking for. If you want better then that you'll need to spend a few hundred. Those CX300 are simply amazing.

I agree don't spend the $100 on the shure ear buds when you can buy the Sennheiser ones for $50. Or the razer ear buds are really good they are supposedly the same as the Sennheisers and I got 2 sets for $30 on woot.com :)

Eytomics ER6 can be had for about $85, or less if you go for the ER6i.

I agree the ER6 are excellent buds as well. ER6 are harder to get in and out, but at the same time have much much better isolation. I have both and I find myself using the CX300 the most because they are just so easy to pop in and out of my ears. Can't hardly go wrong with either.
yeah looks for "in ear monitors" or "ear canal headphones" instead of "earbuds". Sennheiser is a very respectable name. I haven't researched any of these at all, but I'd be inclined to get Sennheiser based on past headphone experiences.
Should do a forum search.. there's plenty of previous posts on this topic.
I have the Etymotic ER6's. Excellent for its price range.
Senn CX300 (think that's the model #) should run around $75 or less and have gotten pretty decent reviews at head-fi. Also, JVC marshmallows can be had for $20 and are pretty good as well
I have to agree with the people saying don't get the shures. I bought a pair of E2C's based on the great reviews they were getting all the time, and I absolutely hated them. I couldn't wear them for more than 5 minutes tops. They are uncomfortable, hard to get into the correct position, impossible to keep in the correct position, and overall don't sound very good. Maybe the other line of Shure's are better not sharing the same size and design but the E2C's were just a major PITA for me to even try and use and offered average sound quality at best. Not what I'd expect from $100 in ear canal headphones. Or I could just have really odd ears lol.
