I keep hearing that if you buy win xp home ver you can,t install on 2 computers in your home is that true. i was about to buy it but i,ve reinstalled 2000 3 times i don,t want to pay every time i install xp.

You can't do it legally and there is no discussion of illegal file manipulations on this forum.

Did not ask how to do anything illegal, asked if it was true or not. Is there a ver of xp that you can use one on 2 comp.

Yes,the corporate Edition will allow you to do this ..But it's only for corporations and cost BIG $$$$ :eek:

The way the service agrement works is that if you buy a copy of win xp (any verions except corporate which you can buy lincese for) you can install it on 1 machine and 1 laptop if you have one, thats it, as for reinstalling it checks themac address of your hardware and if you install something new and then reinstall you have to call MS and tell them, i belive thats the way it works

And from what I have heard if you call Microsoft they will sell a second license to you for about $10 or so less than the first one. I think the figure was $90 for the second upgrade license. I don't know of anyone who has done this. :rolleyes:

That's why I'm glad I've got the Corp. version :) I don't have to deal with all of that garbage! Although I don't even run XP, I prefer Win 2K pro till I get more Ram. It's just to slugish right now.
