Because of the coming price drop next month, I'm debating between the two. Was going to order an E6600 before I heard of the price drop. But then again, the only difference is 200mhz, correct? So from a price standpoint, I could spend less on the E6600...and easily put it beyond the speed of the e6700...but on the otherhand, I could get the E6700 and massivly OC it...I'm so confused! :bang head
And debating on how much money to spend mostly. :)
Advise?

They top out at ~ the same Ghz.. I would get the E6600..
Only reason to get a higher then 9 multi CPU would be for extream cooling benching on a motherboard that has lower FSB (975X comes to mind)

E6600 and pocket the extra $100
buy 6600 now or wait till the price drop and buy 6600 for $225 but then the 6700 will be about what the 6600 is now at $315...
confused yet ?

I was in the same situation as you back in august of 2006... hmm e6700 or e6600... then i saw how good the e6600 clocks and it was a no brainer.
get the e6600... almost all of them clock just as good on high end air and water. get the e6600 and put the extra 100 bucks to a better gfx than what you have chose... or pocket the 100 bucks, or spend it on gas  took 70 bucks to fill my 2001 chevy 2500 up today... @ $3.06 / gal... and i get about 11mpg... ugg o well i like having the power of a 6.0L v8 :santa:
ps.... my e6600 does 4ghz with a ultra 120 and a 47cfm yate loon :p

My E6700 did 4.2ghz and benched @ 4.18 PI. E66 does clock roughly the same for 24/7.
