I usually don't create thread for ranting. This one takes the cake.
I have been on Adelphia for a number of years now. As most of the users know. It was bought out and sold to Time Warner. .. Yup, glorified AOL..
Today one of the busiest days of the week for internet usage. During the middle of the day. They deicide it is time to do the final migration. I am not to happy about losing my mail adress, but it is not so bad. Since I have my own mail. I cannot even get to my IMAP right now.
No internet for a few hundred thousand customers. If not more. Who ever had the bright idea to do the migration during peak times and not during the customary low traffic time of Sunday 2AM-9AM. Is a fool and should find work elsewhere. I have yet to get cmplete access. No mail IM or other sites. The only good part, OCF is not to located to far from me, and I can at least connect here.
As the televisiopn migration. They did it during peak times. We lost TV a number of weeks back about 6:00AM Monday. So no weather or traffic conditions.
Like the tv upgrade. They botched it. My wife talked me out of calling and canceling the service and TV. The phone keeps saying it will be restored by 6PM, and it is much later then that now.
Anyone migrating to TWC seeing the same issues?

THIS is why i switched to verizon fios... back when timewarner bought adel, the cable net started to suck, and fios just became available... i got 3x download speed (15mbit vs 5mbit) and 5.75x the upload speed (2mbit vs 348kbit FOR THE SAME PRICE....
LOL when the fios guys came out to hook the box up, the fios guy told me that in texas, timewarnere was loosing about 20-30k customers EVERYDAY to verizon.
adelphia / timewarner ESPICALLY timewarner is XXXXXX DO NOT BY-PASS THE SWEAR FILTER!!! KRAG, OCF MODERATOR-STUPID there have been so many times that i have called them about the cable being out (for tv) and horrible quality, and they say OOO its nothing to do with us your house line is probably bad... when i have PERFECT RG 6 coxial dual 100% shielded coax cable running from the street to the house, then split to RG59 to the rest of the house. GAHG... i todally feel you man.

Well it is 1AM and I am still hobbled. Still the same message that was up all day. I guess it is 6PM everywhere.
No mail, IM. The part that is really bugging me. I can't even see google or many other sites. Most of my internet is just gone. I pay $60 a month for this? If I had other choices, I would not be on this carrier any longer. It is this or dialup.

I finally got through after 45 minutes on hold.
It will be Monday when I can be all back. I am not happy what so ever!
Looks like they are going to bump up my package download to 8000(see that already) and dump some speed off my upload. I usally get around 840(106kB/S). To a measly 512(64kB/S).
Looks like I am going to be on a cheaper package now. I am not paying a premium to get less. $60 used to get me (over advertised 6000/768) 8000/840. Advertised now is 8000/512.
The rep tried to make it sound like I was getting a really good deal with my Premium Package. I told him, "I bought the package for the upload. I get 8000 easy already. Where is the upgrade?"
Looks like they can shove the premium somewhere, I am going back to the $40 package for 6000/384. If Ihave to wait on monday for 45 minutes. I am going to be in a mood to say "when can I get a disconnect?"
I did lol at the CS saying "I hope you haven't been pounded with calls....." (Yeah like all few hundred thousand of us calling at once. all day long. they should of updated the message. I guess to reflect the screwup they got going on. He did mention there was issues duiring the move over. It still says 6PM.)
I could hear his eyes rolling. I never had to wait this long to get an answer @ 5AM Sunday morning. It is usually the fastest time to get though and the easiest for gossip with the ISP. Since it is usually VERY slow there.
This is what TWC sees as an "awsome" deal... For $60 per month..

I don't have a full rr account yet. That happens Monday. I can't log into anything rr or use it yet. My Adelphia is gone so nothing there.
I don't even know what my email is going to be. My former adelphia mail is no longer active. All I know it is supposed to be my current... with one of three suffix's. Which one, who knows right now. Nothing till Monday.
I am on a limbo kick right now. The ONLY reason I am not freaking out. I am not paying for this until Monday. Then I become very critical of how they deal with the issue. Long as I am not paying, I will grumble alot. They are still dumb for blacking out much of NE Ohio accounts though.
Thank you for the support linkage.

I was on Adelphia, and that company was the worst. Horrible service and price gouging to the extreme. Now that we're fully on TWC, I find the service to be exellent (I've talked to some great customer service reps) and the prices are going down. I'm getting more and more HD channels for far less than I paid for non-HD service with Adelphia.
That said, I still pay out the nose for cable. Over $130 a month for digital cable with a DVR and one of the HD tiers (not HBO or anything, mind you) and the mid-tier Internet service.
I wish that cable companies were actually forced to live up to the agreements set with municipalities oh so many years ago.

Oh I hated the Adelphia TV section... I have no love for that division. The internet usually was pretty good to me. There was a few tier2 techs who I have respect for even. The tv area was full of more-offs. They was more off then moron. I will never forget the time they had my wife try and reprogram the tv and it messed it up so badly, it took me a while to figure out what they heck they tried to get her to do. It should of been unplug the set top box and push a signal to it. They kept blaming the TV set. I asked for a letter of apology and dismissal of that CS. It is the only time I asked for a workers head in all my years.
My wife got yelled at by a Adelphia CS once. I called back and tried to cancel. Finally I went right to the main office and gave them back the equitement. Then went to dial up and rabbit ears. The only thing that has kept me on Adelphia was the internet division. It hardly ever went out and was pretty fast for my area. If it did go down, it was very early on Sunday mornings.
There has been a number of improvements in many areas. How they have been handling this transition is horrible though. First the TV, now this fiasco for the ISP part. They botched both parts. At least they are not lying like they used to... as badly.
Right now my only fun is seeing what sites and links work. Most of them are black right now.

What's ironic is that my quality of service went up immensely when control switched to TW from Adelphia in the San Fernando valley. I'd go far as to say 1000% better as TW's installers actually know how to install the &*%^ing cable. Each time we had a cable instalation (Cable, Cable Modem-which worked half the time and we nixed after a month-, digital cable, etc) my dad had to do the installation. Couple that with poorer video quality, lack of PPV choices, inept support service (to the point that they couldn't answer a billing question even), and random charges (like $300 for a cable modem we had returned two years prior), Time Warner is like a hero here. If TW is awful, I could only imagine what a good cable company would be like!
Time Warner's reps thus far has been courteous, knowledgeable, and best yet, know how to do their jobs. I'm not sure really if this is a tale of how good TW is here, or how completely awful Adelphia in the SF Valley was.

With any market demograph. It can vary. When I first got on the network Adel provided. It was horrible. I chose dial up over it. It was a better value and more reliable. I am not going to mention about the tv, since I am still not happy about that. Though that is more my wifes isseu then mine. I don't do tv all that often. My computer is my entertainment.
After some really bad PR and locals going ape-nutz.. They seemed to get better with the data side of the network. Whenever I got a local it was actually a good deal. Talking to some of the CS reps was not the best. It was easy to ask.. "can I get another rep.. or is is best I hang up and try my luck?" most the time they was polite and understood. They sent me to tier2 without issue most the time. I think I only had one real outage beyond the scope of their control. They gave me a credit and it was all good.
My advertised speeds were 6000/768.. if you look at post #7. You can see the network was well worth my money. Taking me down below what I paid for this month. I paid for 768. They are giving me well under the advertised of 512. I am not getting what I paid for. I paid for 768. Next cycle is another story. (a rep kind of agreed and guided me to that thought :D ) It is when I make the full choice of paying for the new bill or moving on.
The main thing...
They did not tell anyone this was going to effect the network at the time. Usually I got some notice. Now since TWC took over. I hear nothing. If I was a standard customer. I would say oh well. I pay premium prices for premium service. I feel like I got a Pinto for A BMW price this month.
As for the tv part. That is more for my wife then me. It does seem like every channel has something on it. TBH, I am unsure how many we have.. It is awfully pricey for all of them too. I know some of the pay channels go out about once a month if not more. I just tell them.. Would it be easier to just cancel the services, then send out a tech every month? In a 6 month span we had 8 techs out once. I n 4 years, we only had 3 techs and one was for tv/www hookup.
I worry about the www more then the dummy box.
