Wonderful wonder how that one will compare to a raptor.

Wonder if we can sucker someone into testing it for us? :)
Looks pretty cool.

how does the degredation of a solid state medium compare to the hdd's we have today?
Keep in mind that these drives are probably gonna be like $500 or somthing stupid when they first come out. but its really nice that they are creating the competition to help drive those prices down.

Well, from the read/write speeds they give, it looks like it will be pretty close. The 74gb Raptors look like they do about 65 mb/s read, 35 write. (pulled from random website bench)

I just saw this on Digg not too long ago! Looks nifty, but I assume expensive.

$500 would be reasonable, as the 32GB is sitting around $1300 right now.

No wonder PMP devices dont use solid state memory of that size. $1300 for 32GB??? And here I was thinking it would make a good replacement if the hard drive in my ZEN Vision goes plunk.
They will come down in price. Just a matter of time.
5 years from now I'm sure some of will be using flash based drives for out OS/Games.

Transfer speeds are a little slow still, but the one thing these flash drives have always had is access time. The best you are going to see with a Raptor is about 8.0ms while with a flash drive you are looking at less than 1ms. The reason raptros are so popular isn't because of the throughput, tis because of the faster access time. I'd be willing to say that the move to flash based drives is going to be one of the biggest performance boosts of recent times. If I had the money, I would be picking up two of these and running them in a raid 0, but alas I don't have 4k to spend on storage.
how about 128gb
