View Full Version : Office XP Activation
Has anyone bought Office XP?
I heard you can install it on TWO machines. Is this true? Does one have to be a laptop in order to qualify for legal activation?
Do all of the pieces of the installation have activation built in?
For example if my wife who is a teacher buys the Student/Teacher version of Office XP will I be able to load Outlook on more than one machine?

yes ,well you seem to be confused with windows Xp.
you dont activate office xp only the O.S.
office xp only requires the cd key or serial if you like as a way of authenticating it! so whether it is legal or not would depend on 2 things,(a) the liscense and (b) your fundamental conscience towards microsoft but im not here to influence you! lol
you know what i mean im sure!
"billy boy at the gate aint no buddy of mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
goodluck
I'm not confused. Here are two articles about activation of OfficeXP. Sad but true.

I agree with the first link, Its NOT MIROSOFT BUSINESS OF HOW I HAVE MY COMPUTER CONFIGURED....as far as im concerened they should not even care unless to say "Hey this machine does not have the suffient requirments to run offic XP" Now that I could understand but if its alrdy installed and it says that it will run in "Reduced Mode"....well Like what happened to that guy somebody is gonna get pretty p'ed off.
You should be fine loading it on more than one machine. as far as the laptop thing I have heard this a bunch of times and some goverment people are even allowed to install it on home machines too. depends on your company and your power to make M$ want your business. I only have one copy of office xp and it never made me activate it but I only tried it on one machine.
Well the software does not know if it's been installed on another machine or not. You should be able to install on a hundred machines and the software would not know the difference. As far as activating. I've heard that after running office XP a certain amount of time's it will ask you to activate. But I never activated mine and I've used MS word many times. The option to activate is there though. I just never activated it.
I would just go ahead and install it on however many machines you want. Worst case scenario is you will not be able to use it after a while. Then You'll know.
