I saw this over @ XS http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=136776

That kicks a$$ I wonder if the rest of the allendale family can do this as well. So for some of you with the New e6300's and e6400's that are hitting a wall before you expected might want to try the the Op @ xs reported a 8-10 deg temp drop on air . Looks even easier than on the amd's snice you dont have to worry about the small surface mount componets like on amds

hmm I think alot of people will try to run the thing naked then :)

Been a long time since there wasn't any solder between the core and ihs.
You should be aware that intel may change this in the future though.

For those who want to check:

Edit 2:
I should be somewhere on page 36, 37 or 38 of the technical document, but I couldn't find it. (I don't really want to search hard anyway :))

That could explain some mysterious temperature differences using the same cooling.

If anyone attempts this, be sure to get your HS in full contact with the chip. Sometimes it isn't easy. Using a shim that's slightly thinner than the projection of the chip can help keep the HS straight and flat against it.

Yeah, make sure that if anyone tries that make sure you have good contact, otherwise you can kiss your chip goodbye
