I took everyones advice using windows XP and I don't benchmark with sandra anymore for the hard drives. I used ATTO. I tested both my ATA100 7,200rpm drives and they scored as follows.
23000-30,000 which is about 23-30mb/sec transfer rate. Is that correct?? This was using a 4mb test file for each test and direct I/O access. Anyone else have some marks so I can compare please? thanks.
