What's happening guys and gals?
We are the best damn-tooting SETI team this side of Ursa Minor. Yet I sense traces of dissent.........
I crunch for the team because I think the SETI project is a worthwhile one. I certainly don't crunch to try to work my way up the team ranks, or low WU times (although 1.5GHz of AMD XP power helps!).
Hopefully, when I'm away, my wife won't mess with my SETI folder, and I'll be producing results as I'm marching up and down the square, over assault courses, and sitting in the evening polishing my shoes...............:)
Keep the Faith, my fellow SETI crunchers, and don't let it fall apart while I'm away.............

Seems like much dissent right now, yes. Thanks for the note. Some of us are going to keep at it, though the team might be down to near nothing by the time you return. ;)

Am feeling pretty low at the moment, it seems that every time I open my mouth I upset someone. I really think a lot of the Team and the Forums, and would like us to do well.
LuKe, you have my explanations and apologies for my actions over the Chat Room. I would like to apologise to everyone, if I have offended them in any way. Sorry about the Chat Room link, it was at my request that it be removed, I had my reasons.

Mark... I understand... unless you arer hosting your own chat server (mods & all) it is probably a liability to associate OC.com or the Team site with such an endeavor...
HOWEVER.. this should not stop the team from having a mIRC meeting place designated.... Can you still do an ICQ chat too? (I haven't played with ICQ in some time..so I dunno)...

Yes, it's NOT the existence of such a room. Just if we link to it and promote it as for the site or the team, WE are responsible for what happens in it from that point forward.
Some things happened that could shut us down so we had to dis-associate from it.
Personally, we don't care if you have a chatroom, we just can't do ANYTHING to promote it.
I've had ICQ for a while but I don't use it much. You can look for me at: 163671.

I know it must seem like a lot has happened lately - Chawken leaving, and now Luke feeling hurt because of concerns with the chat. Personally I think the team is in relatively good shape demeanor wise. Chawken had his reasons for leaving, and I can't entirely argue with them. The chat room problem was an unfortunate event and I was surprised to find that nobody had said a word to Luke before his posts were deleted. Other than that I feel like everybody is motivated and truly enjoys the company here. It's unfortunate that these things happened, but we have to move on. One thing I would like to stress is that it is easy to be misunderstood in this world of non-verbal communication. Human language has so many nuances to it, and we have grown dependent on detecting someone's tone of voice, body language, etc. In this land of emails and PM's it is often difficult to know exactly what somebody means. For this reason I think we need to communicate any concern immediately and assure that all involved parties are contacted as quickly as possible. We are a team and a community and must strive to get along and work together just as if we were on a football team in person.

i feel that despite what has or hasnot happened with regards to chat rooms and the like that the team is still going along well.
I enjoy the competiton and the companionship that the team offers, and hope that others can enjoy the same in the future
