Does the Athlon XP have an on-chip thermal diode?

I know that the Intel procs. are equipped with on-chip diodes, but are XP's equipped with it too?

I used to have a A7A266 mobo with my Athlon XP 1500+@1800+, with temperatures from 46C to 56C.
But now when I've gotten a new mobo (Epox 8KHA+), my temps are lower then ever before! Temps are ranging between 32-35(open case) and 35-40 (closed case).
Is it a glitch in the mobo sensor, or just better mobo heat-conductivity?
ooor...If the Athlon XP has an on-chip diode, maybe it was activated with the new mobo and started taking readings from that?

So? Which one is it?

On-board mobo sensors should be taken with a pinch of salt.....

Asus ones in particular are particularly un-trustworthy. For more accurate results, get a digi-doc or similar.....

yup, XPs have on-die thermal diode. But, according to Tom's Hardware (check http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/01q3/010917/index.html and http://www6.tomshardware.com/column/01q4/011029/index.html) this thermal diode is not completely working how it should.

yes, XP's DO have an internal thermal diode.

However, the two motherboards in your post do NOT make use of it, so it is irrelevent.

I have an A7A, and my temps are supposedly 50-70.

I know this is incorrect, doesnt take a genious to tell me that :)

In conclusion, the Asus A7A in particular is way, way off with its temperature sensor.

The 8KHA+ has very accurate readings.
