Here is my dilema.

Last night I burnt a cd for a friend. I planned on making another CD for somebody else, so I put a label on this one. The label is approximately 1.5 x 6 cm. Very sticky adhesive. I put the cd in my DVD-Rom to be sure it worked.

My DVD-Rom is a Pioneer one where you do not open and shut it, but rather push the cd in and hit eject where the cd pops halfway out.

Anyway, when i put it in, i heard a terrible loud noise of ripping and screaching and such, then it stopped. Hopefully, the DVD-Rom wasnt toated. I ejected the CD, and it looked like the picture I inserted at the bottom.

The main problem, however, was that the label that i put on the cd is now inside the DVD-Rom.

I tried to put a crappy cd in the drive, but with no avail. The cd wouldnt go in because i think the label is partway on the gears or whatever that move the cd into the drive.

Anyone have any idea of how to get this thing out?

hmm my best idea would be to take out the DVD-Rom drive and open it up. Take a tweezers or whatever and get as much of hte label out as possible. As to why it would do something like this? perhaps the label wasnt on competely on a part of the disc and got stuck in the movable parts inside the DVD drive, and was ripped off the cd and got caught. Mabey even if you get the face plate off you can get enough of the label out to fix it... G'luck to ya

have u tried takin it out?

I dunno about slot dvd-roms, but my normal one, the face plate comes off, and I can see into it..

if u have long tweezers or something maybe u can go 'fishing' and hope it's in one piece, and hasn't melted all over the place..

or just see if u can open the whole thing up...

might void your warranty tho,

Thanks for the help so far.

I think i will just open up the drive and void the old warranty. Not like i havent voided a few warranties before, anyway ;). I dont think the faceplate comes off. Also, I dont feel like fishing with tweezers and accidentally hitting the lens. That would not make a little slurgi happy :)

I will post tonight and say how it went.
