Hello,

I'm writing this on behalf of a family member.

He bought a XFX 7600 GS XT fanless graphics card. He has one 120mm outtake on his case.

It is nearly impossible to hear the system. His cpu cores sit around 30c on stock cooler(E6600 Intel). Case temp 34c.

His graphics card idles at 74c and loads at 113c. (Only tested for a short period)

How are other people getting on with similar passive cards? dangerous?

(Btw can anyone answer why my e6400 idles at 40c and our e6600 idles at 30c!? (Core temps, and the e6400 has perfectly mounted XP-90C)

that temp is far to high for extended use. I have dealt with passive cards that have horrible temps like that before and have a good fix. I generally put a quiet 80mm fan on top of a hdd and zip tie it to something to keep it in place. Point its airflow to push air over the card and then remove all of the metal pci slot protectors on the back of the case so that hot air can escape from the case along the airflow path. Also if you have any pci cards in the case as well move them as far away from the graphics card as possible to allow for better airflow, also you can stager their heights to allow better airflow as well with the tallest cards furthest away from the graphics card. Doing this brought temps down on my 6800nu down from high 60's idle to 40-42 with minimal to no noise increase.
