I'm doing a demonstration on watercooling for my microcomputers voc class and I wanted to do it with extra stuff I had. these are the parts I had picked layin around- a heater core (7" x7") w/ 5/8" fittings and a Rio 600. I'm gonna make a new block for it. I had these two thoughts
1. the overall lift of the set-up will be almost 2' and the rio 600 is prob gonna be way to week.

I think a RIo 1400 would be a better choice (it's only $20) and make the block w/ 1/2" channels and fittings along with the re st of the system.

While I am not a big fan of Rios due to reliability issues, I have used a 600 in a Q500 with a flow killing Cooling Cube on top of the PSU. A larger pump gave me better temps but the Rio worked OK. If this is just for a demonstration project save your money and by the 600. If you are going to use the rig on a daily basis consider a Eheim or Danner pump. They are well worth the extra expense.

as colin says it should be fine for demo purposes as long as it can reach that high. but for longer time use get a good pump, i had to adapt a pond pump and it is very loud

I all ready have a rio 600 leftover, I'll try it out on monday when I got back to class (the extra stuff I'm using for that class is locked up in a closet there).

If it doesn't work I'll take my mag drive 7 out and bring it there just for the day
