DivX encoding

I've been recording and transferring to my cpu and now it's unde rthe format mpeg (mpg), how can i use the DivX codec to make the file sizes smaller? (If that een is possible)

toms hardware guide (http://www.tomshardware.com/) just did a bit on the MPEG-4 (divx) conversion, look there to get a decent primer. I use the new FlaskMPG with the 4.11 divx codex and it works pretty well - it is fast at encoding. You can get most of what you need at divx (http://www.divx.com/index.php) and mp3guest.com (http://www.mp3guest.com/).

Check some of the more active divx forums for hints and suggestions.

Might want to check out radified.com (http://radified.com/index2.html) for more info...

Because for some of us know why a high % use of this software is used for. If you already don't know i'm not going mention it for it'll lead to this thread being discontinued. Lets just say it's illegal!

DivX encoding is usally linked with pirated movies, even though it has it's legit uses aswell. I think that the mods will let this go as long as it stays away from those uses.

jeez, taht's a kick in the buttocks. If someone asks for help on programming, ip, unix, etc. would they be associated with hackers?

No, that's NOT Cracking or Copying Copyrighted Programs. If you ask how to Crack something, It would be deleted at once. If you asked how to Hack some system, that would also be deleted. Programming is a legitemate topic, we even have a Forum dedicated to Programming.

It's common knowledge DivX can be used for bad things. But since this thread is about Home Movies, it will stay for now.

Our Policy on Warez, Cracks and Piracy are clearly spelled out in the Forum Guide. You also agreed to them when you signed up. There are other places for this type of information, this is NOT one of them.
