you should get a serious heatsink for that processor like the SK-6. It is about twice as good at the same noise level. The Glaciator 2 is great as well, and is also quiet. It is better than the Fop 38.

Get the SK6>8C cooler than Fop-38.

Even beats the HUGE 800gram Swiftechs sometimes as it has a foot or more of surface area.

FOP-38's work very well for P3E's, but they're not quite up to the task of chilling T-Birds and Athlon XP's.

I haven't seen AMD's stock cooler for Palomino's(Athlon XP's) so I dunno if they're good or not.

If you're not going to OC your XP CPU, a Vantec CCK-6035D will work well. Less expensive than SK-6's, too.

if you arent going to oc it, i suggest an SVC GoldenGate with a Delta 38, you can get it for like 18$ shipped, from www.svcompucycle.com .....

I believe that the official line is 90 degrees C is the max. At that point, it melts and burns...
I would want to keep mine below 50.

the SK6 should keep full loads below 40...it really is a beast

My FOP32 worked OK for overclocking my TBird to 1333 at stock voltage... my SK6 was better, got me to 1360 at acceptable temps.... my Alpha is even better.... my Alpha idles my TB @ 1360, 1.85v, at about 3 to 4C above mobo temp...

I'm using an FOP-38 on my overclocked Athlon and it works fine. I keep the RPM's of the Delta down to 5700 to keep it quite and the chip runs at 41C full load.

I was shopping for another heatsink, but it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble to lower it by a few degrees.

On my Dad XP1700+ @1.6Ghz 1.8v with a SK6/Delta50Cfm@7v the temp @full load is around 34 degree C with an ambient temp around 20 C.
