I think found the perfect reservoir for my 0$ water cooling project. It's a 5 litre mini keg of my usual domestic beer. I'm wondering if a 5L. reservoir is too little or too much.

It'll be just fine. The large size will take a long time to heat up, so for and hour or two, you'll cool better then a small closed loop system.

By the way, the keg's aluminum, what's your waterblock? If it's copper you'll need either anti-freeze or water wetter to stop corrosion. Of course if the keg is plastic lined, cool on!
Also if the system still just seems too warm, look at the pump. Assuming a keg sitting on the floor, and the computer on the desktop, you may be asking too much lift from the poor thing.

Hmmm...coors party ball reservior.

I haven't figured out what I'm going to make the water block out of yet. Either aluminum, or steel, it shouldn't really make a difference. All today's cans and kegs are plastic coated. The amount of steel and/or aluminum exposed is negligible it you maintain your system as it should be.
