I have an ecs k7s5a mobo w/duron750, 256 mb of pc133, western digital 30gig hd, ensoniq sound card, trio 64v+ vid card, and an antec heat sink/fan. (I run win 2k). Over the course of the three months ive had this stupid system, ive had to rma 2 boards!! the first for factory defects (ie missing capacitors), and the second becauset the usb bus/ports blew up ( and i wasn't even using em)! So when i got the 2nd rma'd board, i bought a new case w/ a certified ps. I installed the mobo and did everything properly. I was disapointed to find that this board was having the same problems as the other two boards- Netscape 6 was freezing my machine! So i did many, many clean installs ( from several different win2k disks) with all the windows updates each time. I found however, that the netscape was freezing more often, so i switched hd drives- no difference at all. It kept getting worse. So then i bought new ram- no difference. Now ie6 and windows explorer freeze the system, and it's struggling with win98se! I know as a fact that my vid card, sound card, hd, and ram are all good- So is it my cpu? If so where can i get a cheap replacement (preferably unused and faster than 800 mhz)
Thanks

It sounds like a cooling problem. How's that heatsink? I have the same mobo with same Duron 750. Mine has never crashed, not once, although I have it oc'd up to 1.0 Ghz.

Also, seems like a lot of probs with IE6, try using IE5 instead.

I set the fsb setting to 133/133. Before doing that, I raised the voltage to 1.85 by using the pencil trick on the L7's. That worked good for me. There is also an overclocking bios available at ocworkbench.com what will give you 112 and 124 fsb settings, as well as a few above 133.

93f seems plenty cool....hmmmm, I just don't know.

I have heard some people complaining about problems with this mobo and high end athlons and XP's, but it seems ideally suited for a good inexpensive duron system. Dump that IE6 and try 5 instead.

Also, does it lock when you run a benchmark like sandra? http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/
