I have an Aopen AX4TII motherboard. It uses rdram. It had a P4 1.7Ghz/256/400/1.75v cpu. I recently installed a P4 2.0Ghz/512/400/1.5v cpu. My question is: is it okay to use the cpu with the lower voltage or am I going to start having problems. So far everything seems to work fine. I didn't realize until after I bought it that there was so many different voltages. I'm not a computer wizard.

Different chips have different voltages they need to run. If you never changed the voltage to OC then the 1.5v on the new chip is its default voltage. I do not know much about the P4 chips, but since it went from 1.75 to 1.5 then it should be running at its stock voltage.

:welcome: to the forums as well..

Maybe someone else can tell me if using the lower voltage cpu will cause problems to my computer or damage something?

the old cpu was a willamet, the new cpu is a northwood. as long as your motherboard supports northwoods, it will be just fine. the motherboard will default the voltage back to the 1.5v it needs. perfectly safe.

i did a quick search on google, and i didn't find an official page, but i did see references to people running northwoods on that board, so you should be good to go.

I checked my BIOS and it list the new cpu as 1.5v's so I assume it picked it up and configured things correctly. Thanks for the information.
