View Full Version : Partially Unlocked XP1900 (sigh)
Well I got my XP1900 partially unlocked using the thermal paste/silver grease method. What a pain!
I got 6, 6.5, 11, 11.5, (default 12) 12.5 , 13- dont know about 14 or 15. Dont see any reason to try them either unless I jumper down to 100fsb in my Epox 8KHA+
Anyway I would have liked 10 and 10.5 but I think I will just stick to what I have. Running now at 1760 (160x11) without any lockups in anything. I wonder if I will get to 166- thats my aim but who knows?
My stepping is AGKGA "K" week 42
So not bad- I wish I had all the multipliers though but its such a pain I think I will just leave well enough alone :)
Well after playing around with my XP1900 I am stable at 164x11 or 1804. Thats not too shabby- a 204 mhz increase. I dont like my FSB being that high so I may raise the multi and lower the FSB or maybe keep it at 160 for added stability. My PCI cards have never run this out of spec I would imagine. This 8kha+ is such a great overclocker especially with the new bios.
My only concern now is with my enermax Powersupply. I have been reading so many problems with the 5v rail and the enermax that I am getting a 400w sparkle. I loved the enermax but I dont want problems down the road.
I saw a dude on ambmb.com forums that had his FSB to 221. Can you believe it? I never saw anything like it. Thats why I think there is a 1/5 pci divider kicking in somewhere.

There is allegedly evidence of a 1/5th and even possibly a 1/6th PCI divider on the 8KHA+. A chap over at aoaforums tested his PCI slots with a oscilloscope at high FSB's and found them......

Sounds like something Wild Andy would do....:p
I know this MSI board I've got sure doesn't have a 1/5th... I "partially unlocked" my XP too... I dropped the multi down a few notches, and got 168FSB....the PCI bus was sky high! I didn't test it out for stability, as the CPU speed was significantly lower than it is when I run the default 11.5x at 148FSB...
Wonder if that new AK35 Shuttle is gonna put out has 1/5 or 1/6 divisors....
I know the rest of the hardware in my rig can handle 159FSB...it did that for a looong time with my P/// 600E.
When I unlocked (well, tried to...lol) my XP, I only got the odd numbers to work properly...any even numbered multis booted and ran at the next lowest odd number (ie; 9 and 9.5x worked fine, but 10 and 10.5x ran at 9/9.5x, etc....).
Bummed me out, as I was hoping to get 12 and 12.5x....:( (which worked out to be 11/11.5, and 11.5 is default...)
I agree....*sigh*

Actually it has a Ram divider to allow insane FSN's (good if you don't want to unlock ya CPU) however you will need some really good Pci cards to run that out of spec, the highest my SB Live! Will do is 164.
