What CPU would you prefer for a gaming PC that you want to OC?
I am looking at either the QX6700 which I can OC to 3.2GHz (eg. QX7000) or
Quad-Core XEON 3210 (which I can OC to 4x 3.0GHz or same as QX6800). Maybe I can push a Xeon 3210 higher but I do not know.
I am pretty new to OC and also wonder why CPUs which were designed for servers are now available for desktops. What is better then: Quad Core Xeon's or Quad Core "normal" chips (QX 6700)?

I would wait until april 22 when prices drop and get the Q6600 it should do 3.2ghz

That should good to me. Why is April 22 the day of price drops? But the E6600 is Duo2 or dual core. Not that any gaming really users Quad Cores right now :santa:
Most benchmarks seem to show very very very little advantage to Quad cores unless you are doing video editing. I was thinking thought that it just might be worth it LOL

he said Q6600, not E6600. they should be around $550.

I'd def wait on the q6600 to drop, I'm even tempted to go back to a dual until the q6400 comes out

the q6400 and x3210 are the same cpu. just that the xeon will more then likly need less volts for stock speed. that would be the one im after.

here's the cheapest place that has em in stock,

a little pricey for my taste, at that price I'd just do a q6600
