im thinking about over clocking ym new athlon 1g w/133 ( 266) bus and im wondering how is hould do it like the bus to multiplier rachio i.e. 150mhz *10 or 133 *10 or 133*11 etc.

any suggestions will haveing higher bus speeds effect my system speed (as opposed to higer multiplier)?

i know bout the PCI and hard drive effects
also what is safenow adays for bus speed ive read kinda out dated articles on it

I would change the multiplier first and see how that goes then when you have it stable then go for the frontside bus.

Harddrives dont like the frontside bus being too high so the multiplier is what i would do first. Same thing with the agp and pci slots.

I would definetly up the fsb first mainly cause you dont need to take out your chip and modify it and its just fine to run the fsb around 150 most decent hardware will be stable at that speed you could probably go even higher with good ram.

As far as unlocking the chip you can use a pencil if you want or a conductive ink pen or a defogger kit.

if you want to do the frontside bus first you can just to see how stable you can get it up to. then you can do the mulitplier.

theres no rule to overclocking just take small steps so you dont fry anything.

Ya like when I got this duron (locked) the other day I just upped the fsb to find the cpu limit (133x8=1064) then I took out the chip and modifided the L1 bridges with the conductive ink pen. When I get my new mobo I will be running the duron @7x152=1064 (provided it remains stable) cause this is going to yield better performace then the 133x8=1064 setting.

I agree you should take small increases on your way to overclocking its a much better way to find the best stable settings you can use.
