I have a Gigabyte k8ns-ultra 939 board, gig of corsair xms extra low latency, amd 64 3500+ with a venice core and currently have an ati x850xt card. Im looking to get a new card for this pc, either pci or agp as this is what the board has for slots. I dont care which format, pci or agp, but i want the best card i can get for around 200-300. Please help me out guys, appreciate it!

you have one of the best agp cards out today. The only thing that might be an upgrade for you is an agp x1950pro and even then you might bottleneck it enough to where you cant really tell a difference. Your card should be as fast as the current top of the line mass marketed card from nVidia, the 7800gs btw. The only real reason to move from a x850xt is if you need pixel shader 3 in which case you would be better off just moving to pci-e IMHO.

I agree with BossBorot's advice. I went from a 7800GS to an x850xt equivalent (an x800GTO unlocked to 16 pipes and overclocked to x850xt speeds) and noticed very little difference between the two. What you have is pretty much as good as it gets for AGP. I would hold off on an upgrade until you are ready to move to pci express.
