I have a Toshiba Satellite 2595CDS laptop that has a 4 gig hdd. I would like to put a 60 gig hdd in it's place. The Toshiba website sells them, but says that it must be replaced by a authorized service technician. That adds extra $$ to the already shocking price of $200 for the HDD.

Can anyone tell me how to replace the drive? Or can you lead me to step-by-step instructions?

I'm experienced with replacing hardware, but would like to know any problems to watch out for when replacing the HDD.

Also, since there is no panel to remove to replace the HDD, it looks like I have to take the entire bottom off the laptop. Is that right?

Check >HERE< (http://www.irisvista.com/) and see if they have any info.

:edit: if yours is the same as the 2500CDS, there's a slot cover next to your battery that the hard drive is under.

Thanks for the tips. I followed your advice and ended up on Ebay where I found someone selling the entire Toshiba service manuals for all Toshiba laptops on CDs.
