How much of a performance loss is there when running memory in 2T rather than 1T?

And also how much do timings help increase performace?

In benchmarks tighter timings may help you quite a bit but as far as real world goes you wont notice the tighter timings. For example, in games, I'm talkin' like 5FPS or something.

well 5fps in a push from 15-20fps which is a pretty big difference at that level.

but what should I be more concerned with - timings or raw speed? (mhz)
like lets say 250mhz @ 2.5-3-3-8 vs. 260mhz @ 3-3-3-8

also is 2.9v safe with the ram i have?(sig) - the stock voltage is 2.6v

If you can set it to T1 and its stable do so because you will notice its more responsive.

Lower times dont have a massive impact on games but it will help in other applications.

1t vs 2T on average would give you about 3% difference.

The two middle timmings are more important than other two. 250 2.5-3-3-8 is probably not noticeable over 250 3-3-3-8, so 260 3-3-3-8 is better.
