Wont DDR3 mean a complete change of sockets?

Well I am thinking that myself AMD's releasing Barcelona later this year and INTEL with there chip whatever it's called. So if there going support DDR3 which INTEL's will probably be using new socket and all the trimmings.

I'm waiting this out. Looks like the initial DDR3 sticks should be avoided.
