I use windows 2000. In task manager at the very bottom right hand side it says

Mem usage: 373056K / 1732952K

Which is odd since system properties say I have 1048048 KB ram

I have one single gigabyte stick in there.

When I use prime 95 to load all my memory it says

Mem usage: 1135544K / 1732952K

Now why is that?

I thought about that a minute after I put the post up... thanks :)

Oh, and I'm suspecting that I have faulty ram since I've gotten "memory can not be read" errors from Warcraft 3....

Running Prime95 for a while is a good way of testing memory faults right? Assuming it runs stable for 5 hours (game wont run stable for more than 30 minutes)... will that prove that the ram is not the problem?

currently I dont have any optical drives, so memtest would be difficult...

Prime95 is ok for stability testing, the but not great. As for checking for specific Memory errors, Memtest it better. If you can, run memtest. If overclocked, reset back to defaults and see if the game crashes. Also, you may want to look into reinstalling the game, it may be a corrupted file, or a bad update causing the error.
