Where Video Stands Who buys what and what do people pay?

In the laptop segment I suspect that the heavy reliance upon integrated video is caused primarily lack of choice. There are very few non-integrated options at the (Dell, Intel, Sony, Gateway) large laptop retailers.
I suspect that if more non-integrated options were available, they would be selected.
When joe-six-pack buys a Dell (laptop or desktop), he goes thru the options and decides where to spend any additional budget that he may have available. Unfortunately Dell rarely provides many (if any) non-integrated video card options for the desktops, and choices for laptops are nearly nonexistant.
