Please recommend PS2 game

I bought a PS2 system for my son for Xmas. It's the GT3 pack. I'm also looking to get another game for him that's closer to his preferred genre.

I guess it's classified RPG? These first-person hunt-through-the-worlds-and-defeat-the-ultimate-baddie type games. :)
He has the 64 now and thoroughly enjoys the Zelda games, Bond games (and their derivitives), anything Mario, and Banjo Kazooie (1 & 2).

I'm not looking for the latest release (unless I can find it cheap). Something a few months old will satisfy him for a few weeks until he beats it. Sorry for my ignorance, but my knowledge of gaming comes mostly from him and I can't very well ask him what PS2 game he might like. :)

there's lots of RPGs available for the PS2...i'm not a big RPG player so i don't know any of them by name...i know final fantasy X is supposed to be coming out soon, don't even know if its already out yet. but thats new....you can probably pick up final fantasy 9 (which was for the PS1 but will play on the PS2 just fine) otherwise just go to your local software store and ask anyone there. they're always the RPG playing type who work at those stores.

Metal Gear Solid 2

It's the best game for PS2 (with maybe Grand Theft Auto and GT3-A-spec in a close second)

A decent RPG for PS2 would be Dark Cloud. It's been out for a few months, so you should be able to get a good price on it.

kind of an rpg/action game Metal Gear Solid 2 , you hunt down people,(stop a terrorist plot I think....) (only played it for a while i dont own it.) kill the bad guys and its great fun. But if he's young dont bother, it has nudity of men and woemn in it, but 13 and up go for it I think.....

You can't go wrong w/ anything from Squaresoft. Personally, I'd get him Chrono Cross, or the Final Fantasy 5(although that might be a little difficult for him. How old is he?)/Chrono Trigger combo.

He's 11, but is the kind that doesn't quit until the damned game has been beaten, cheated, and burned. :D

The new 007 game(Agent under fire) is highly recommended and so is metal gear solid 2. :D

ANd don't forget about the best one of ALL GRAN TURISMO!! :p

T.Hawk Pro Skater 3is rad. Tekken Tag Tournament is my favorite. I have been hearing good things about Devil May Cry.

I suggest final fantasy 9 this game is a great rpg I know its for playstation one but its awesome. And if he wants the best rpg ever created on any platform ever invented get him final fantasy 7 that game is so cool and original you can't go wrong with it.

jea dude! Let's go get a $350 toy, and buy games from the $75 dollar toy for it.... for the cost of that, I would get the SONY remote for the DVD player, since it adds some firmware to the DVD player (caution: it will take up 1/4 of the memory card).

I am a total junkie on GT3 and its predecessors,.,., GTA3 is one nice game but baybe to violent for an eleven year.?

RPG, or Role Playing Game is a tough one on PS2,,,, Final Fantasy. A bit complicated though.

I have an idea! How about Tekken Tag Tournament?
So he doesn´t get his butt kicked by the older boys at school?

GT3 is awesome. Good choice on the software bundle. I can play that game for hours and hours.

I would also suggest Devil May Cry and Metal Gear 2. Great games and spooky.

NHL 2002 is great for the Hockey lover.

GTA3 (Grand Theft Auto 3) is also a really good game. But I wouldn't recommened it for an 11 yr old. It needs a very mature audience. They aren't trying to ban this game for nothing.

There are too many to suggest. If he likes the Zelda games, then I would get him Final Fantasy X which is due out December 18th.

Final Fantasy X just came out, though getting a copy may be difficult due to incredibly high demand. It's not quite as action oriented as a first person game, but it's predecessors pretty much launched the computer rpg genre. + it's not particulaurly violent and the graphics are top notch! It'll take at least a month of farily constant play to beat, too.

GT3 is the only reason I bought the PS2....its the greatest...anyways...as far as RPG....probably...Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3...or Final Fantasy 9.....good luck..
