Asfar as I know, you cannot buy Cold Cathode Tubes in any stores. You must purchase them online.
They aren't made for cars, thats why they aren't at an auto parts store. They're specifically for modding computer cases. If you're lucky, you might find a local computer shop who buys them from online in bulk, and seels them in his store. Use the latest phone book you should have just gotten within the past week, and call around.

Uh . . . My neon doesn't make my case any hotter. Just food for though. The brightness factor is different. I would imagine that CC would be a hell of a lot brighter, but my neon is plenty bright enough.
about time I returned the favor ;) bgmicro sells them and they are cheaper than dirt only 6.99 for the 12inchers and 5.99 for 4inchers. www.bgmicro.com look under lights section and don't forget to buy an inverter if you don't already have one.

The name for BG micros inverters is sorta confusing but if you look at the Description they power CCs. http://bgm.bgmicro.com/prodinfo.asp?sid=08382754629629631225319068&prodid=PWR1110&page=2&cri=LIT&stype=2

Unlike transformers(not Optimus Prime, Beavis!) that lower voltage these inverters raise the 12volts up to like 800volts. they still only use about 3watts, less than a harddrive.
