First of all hello:) Ok here's the situation... I want to reformat and reinstall windows... but while I'm at it I figured I'd make a partition for my swap file... I was thinking about it and can't decide which would be best... so I figured I'd ask... how much space does Windows 98se require (just for the Windows folder) and can the other folders (like Program Files) be moved to another partition.... Well here's a better idea of what I'm thinking... 1: make the primary partion around 1 to 1.5 gig 2: make a swap file partition around 256 or 512 3: use the rest for program files and other installs... so the windows directory and the swap file are both towards the beginning of the drive... does this sound right?

How big is your HD? I really don't think that it is even worth partitiioning unless you have a really big HD.

Nevertheless, I like to keep my Swap = to my ram, which is 384.

I have a 10 gig... but my swap file is always fragmented and toward the end of the drive... even if I defrag with it disabled then set it and restart...

also I noticed while installing linux that it sets the swap file on it's own partition as well...
