Okay, so I'm thinking of a new rig. I'm probably gonna end up buying the main stuff here at OCF :)

So are the Conroe's still kicking ass, or is there a newer better (reasonably priced) processor out? I'm assuming an E6400 is still a good proc. Any new offerings coming up or are these all here to stay for a bit? And what's with the xx20 offerings (ie. 6320, 6420 etc)?

Also, what Intel chipsets support these procs? I need a mobo while I'm at it (as well as RAM, GPU and PSU). I was thinking a P5WD2 for a mobo, but not sure if they support the Core Duos.

I don't think that the p5wd2 supports the Conroe.:)

what you want is the e6420 for $199 with 4mb cache.

its the replacment for the 6400 2mb cache chip.

Best chipset in my eyes is the p965 , asus p5b -deluxe or the new dfi infinity dark 965

also check this out I almost pooped when I seen this price for these crucial micron ddr2 1000 D9GKX's

for psu I would recommend the 520 corsair if your not worried about the 8 pin pci-e connectors, if you want to spend under $100 on a psu I would get the enhance 5150 GH at ewiz for $70 and 36 amps on the 12v rail it cannot be beaten.

That Mwave price is really good for the Crucial Ballistix. I got my Ballistix at Newegg when it was $239 - $50 MIR = $189.

the 4XXX C2Ds are under 150 now and I believe can be OCed to perform like their 6XXX big brothers.
