For 100$ the Geforce2 Pro/Ti is very good as is the Radeon7500 for 110$....personally i would go with the 7500, the performance increase is worth it...

My vote would go to the ATI 7500, not because I have one but cause performance is very good and they overclock really well. Price is really good in US as well.

I picked up a Radeon 7000 32meg DDR for $70 last weekend and I am thoroughly impressed. Runs live action footage from Alice and MechWar4 smoothly with extreamly high texture. Around 65-80 bucks seems to be a good sweetspot for cards unless you go for $110 or more.

People have found Ti200's for $60...

I would recommend the Hercules Kyro 2 4500 card. Decent driver support ,although not as good as Nvidia, but has better performance than the MX card. Uses tile rendering and bump mapping with a cool blue circuit board. Can be bought for around 70 if you buy OEM.

Ti200!!!

Kryo's aren't better than all Mx's, they use a diff rendering system, NviDia and Ati render the whol level, even things u don't see this takes more memory banwidth, however the Kryo onlt renders things you see using a lot less power so even though its much slower than an MX it can compete with it quite easily.

LOOK for a Ti200!!!!! G...E...F...O...R...C...E...3...!!!!

Well you missed the black friday deal for a great g3 ti200 by only a few weeks! the V5 is a very nice bargain video card. depends on which games you like to play and it will be gone soon as newer games are having problems with them.

I'd go with the ATI Radeon 7500, although a Visiontek Xctasy Ti200 is also a very good overclocking card, believe it go to 550 Mem and something core very easily.

What about driver support for the 7500?

I have an 8500 and grant it, the graphics are great playing CS and RCW, but I still get lock-ups and weird visual effects that should not be going on. If the support is just as bad for the 7500, I would not recommend buying an ATI card.

The 7500 is the same chipset as the older radeons and as such the driver support is very good....just as good as nvidias if you look over the fact that there is only 2-3 drivers to choose from as opposed to 300.....i dont know many people that have had problems with the oriiginal radeon...

NickW - He is looking for a card under $100 not over $160 hahaha

G3 Ti200 can not be had for under $100 besides the Best Buy deal that was on for 1 day.

Nickcw you can NOT fina a G3Ti200 for $100 I do not care what you think . You CAN buy a G2 for $100 but it is still slower than a 7500..

Best bet is 7500 or a 32 DDR Radeon for like $65

The only people who got a G3 Ti200 for $100US got it at bestbuy on a 1 day sale

It's looooooong gone.

Thanks to someone, it was brought up again.

/me looks at nick

I wasn't looking for a needle-in-the-haystack deal of the century.

Just general info on a truely $100 card, no deals or rebates.

Thanks again for the info.

For $100 you will get a g2Titanium (faster than an Ultra) however the extra $50 might be worth it for a g3!!!

If you can't though then a 7500 or a G2Ti is your best bet, I'd read some reviews first though to see which meets yours/his requirements.

Quality/Speed etc.

Good Luck and sorry if I led you to believe that Ti200's were $100!!!!

Nickcw sorry to tell ya but you are wrong. G2 Ti200 's are slower than Ultras and a 7500 will beat the Ultra Geforce 2 cards. Check the recent post of 3D Mark2K1 score by Ultra owners, with their cards overclocked.

My system is similar to may of the posted ones even slower as far as cpu scores go and my 7500 posted a higher score.

Best bet is a 7500 for reasonably cheap price, $100US can buy em it is a far better buy than a G2 Ti200, way newer technolgy.

Yes it does not support all DX8 features but it does support a few and the card is very overclockable.

Next up the rung would be Ti200, G3 Ti500 and 8500 all for more $$$$.

I read somewhere that the Ultra's were souped up and renamed to G2 Titaniums to match the g3 line...

Oh well:beer:

How does the Radeon perform on Quake 3 ? That is about the only "high-end" video game I and most of my friends/family play. Other than that it is mostly kiddy stuff that has min sys req of like p133 16mb of ram.

lets put it this way, when you play QuakeIII on a 7500 the monitor is the bottleneck (unless you turn off vsync).....
