Oh man, they went through a lot of work to do something simple.
You need a molex pin extractor, they look like a metal syringe. There is a male and a female, if all you are doing is fans the male will work fine. Mine cost $8 each from jameco.com.
There are 4 wires from the powersupply, a red that is 5 volts, Yellow that is 12 volts and 2 blacks that are grounds. On the connector is 2 wires, a black that lines up with a black ground on the powersupply connector and a red that lines up with the yellow 12V line. All that is needed is to use the male pin extractor to pull the black ground pin from the fan connector and switch it with the one that lines up with the red 5 volt wire. 12 volts - 5 volts = 7 volts.

I find a small screwdriver works fine :D
As for the mothed, I agree, switching the pins over is much easier, can be done in under a minute.
As for their "professional" looks, if they really wanted that they'd resolder the molex pins, it's easy and looks a lot less hacked in than a huge crimp connector.

Some of the pins are a little flimsy and you have to be careful not to bend them, but a tiny screwdriver will work.

adamtekh - I have the same problem as you. How do you fair the sound now? I'd like your opinon. Does the fan still whine some what loud or is it tolerable? I have a delta 38cfm black label on my vantec and the first time I plugged that sucker in man did it suck and it sounded like a hovercraft in my computer.
