e6420 you'll have more headroom with the 8x multi

what about some nice d9 ram...which would be the better choice?
I am going all over the place, hehe, I always ask tons of random questions when about to make a purchase...I just got a sick deal on some d9 ram and am now trying to maximize my performance....

Well if you can shell out the extra $20 bucks or so, the 6420 will always be the better choice no matter the RAM. This is because with the 6420, you have the option to go with any multi up to 8, while the 6320 is capped at a 7x multiplier. If going for the 6320 and you plan to do a decent OC, get some decent D9 RAM for sure.

didn't realize I could go back down to 7x with the e6420....
I would recommend the E6420 and good D9 RAM. If you luck out and get an excellent CPU that will do 3.6 gig, that's 450 FSB with the E6420. With good RAM it will not only do DDR2-900, but it will do it at CAS 4 timings.
