Please rate my system and fill me in on anything I could change to improve it.

Soltek SL-75DRV2
XP 1800+
Kingmax 256MB PC2700 (3 Sticks)
Western Digital 100GB Special Edition with 8MB Cache
Audigy X-Gamer
OCZ Titan 3
Linksys 10/100 Network Card
Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM
Mitsumi Floppy
Antec SX1040 with 400 Watt Antec Power Supply
Thermalright SK6 with 80MM Adapter and 53CFM Fan

If anything is overkill please let me know. I have all these parts sitting on my desk ready to open, I could always bring them back if I needed to. Like I am not sure if I will be able to take full advantage of PC2700. Also, I not sure if the Soltek over the KR7A was a good idea and a have been hearing that soundblaster cards have problems with Via chipsets. Just let me know. Thanks.

Audigy is supposed to be ok with via, the sb live is the problem one.
Depends on if you bought the 2700 ddr before or after the price increase you might pay the same or more if after for 2100.
Better to have higher rated memory than needed anyway unless cost is really important especially when using a lot of mb's.
I have no experience with the soltek, there is a good review of it here: http://www.lostcircuits.com/motherboard/sl_75drv2/

Might want to read thru it before you open it and see if its missing any important overclocking features.

Let us know how your system works out.

Good choices IMO

I would have picked the Epox 8kha+ as the mb- with the latest bios people are pushing 180+ FSB. I would have saved the money and gotten 2100 Crucial also- but you do have a good setup

An Alpha or Swiftech, instead of the SK6.
Maybe another (EPoX or Shuttle) mobo, I don't know the Soltek well.
My 2 cent's.

Well, I decided to keep everything and put it all together as it was after a found a review of toms hardware that called the soltek the overclocking king and that it was much more stable than the epox. Also, I went down to coolerguys this afternoon and tried the 8045 on my mb, but it didn't fit; too bad :(. I am at 160 fsb now that ran through some quake 3 for about 4 hours, so I think it is stable. I think I could push it futher, but I heard somewhere that over 40 fsb for your hd and soundcard could fry them. How do I go about rasing it without doing a permenent damage? Also, how should I go about rasing the voltage to my ram and xp?

Man don't worry that soltek board is the one I would have got for sure ifI wasn't looking for RAID. You have some great choices there. Although, I don't know how worth it it was to get a a Athlon 1800+ they are kind of expensive. The WD 100gig special edition is really nice. You should take the soltek back and two rams sticks, and get a kr7-raid, and buy another 100gig special edition and raid them :) that will be some speed. but nice setup man.

I am waiting for my case to come in and I will have the system below :)

Just raise the fsb slowly maybe even only 1fsb at a time and run thru 3dmark 2001 or something.

The hard drives, ect. won't instantly fry if you do it this way but will give you lockups, bsod's when you hit their limit.
Sometimes the hard dive will foul your os up and you might need to reinstall it.

I got the MB from www.ncix.com, I think it was around $135 US with shipping. However, if you are paying by credit card, don't click "show US dollar equivents" and just pay the listed price, which is in canadian. The true exchange rate is stronger than the one ncix gives you, and your credit card will automatically use the real exchange rate for any currency; this will get you a better deal. Yeah, two special editions would be nice, but for $255 each, I can't afford it; maybe in a year when they not the top of the line anymore I can pick one up for like $70 :D.
