defective dvd media?

Verbatim, manufacturer mitsubishi chemicals corp (mcc004). The top inner ring, right at the edge, is rough and slightly raised - I can't see it, but I can feel it, must be barely 2mm. Will this harm a drive or anything?

no it wont harm the drive but if you write info to it it might not read correctly after buring data to it. its hard to say really, have a few verbatim dvd-r's never noticed what you talk about.
