View Full Version : Question about moving SMP work units
Okay. Got my ASRocks and 6600s today, would like to take my Xeons down tonight if at all possible.
Can I move the in progress WUs from the Xeons to the new rigs without losing the WUs? Just install it and copy the work folder over? LMK. Will be a bit before I get Ubuntu up and running.
Yes.
No install needed in Ubuntu, as long as its in the fah folder when you run the command line it should pick up where it left off.

My 4300 is gonna Smoke your 6600.
:D
cannot execute binary file. the FahCore_a1.exe I get 4 of those.
Don't forget to check your permissions on the files if you set up smp fresh and just moved the work/queue.dat I know it sounds noobish but everone forgets sometimes.:)
You should have four cores running even on a dual core sys. FahCore_a1.exe

How do I do that? I didn't have to do the chmod +x step on fah5. I just get those 4 core messages about not being able to execute.
I use the right click method. I change (/fah5, /mpiexec, /FAH, /folding) and i'm always good to go. Your saying your getting a core executable permission? I would check that as well just to be sure. Otherr than that I don't know:shrug:

Checked permissions, still no go. Deleted FahCore_a1.exe.
Ran ./fah5 -forceasm -verbosity 9....downloaded a core, AND a NEW WU and it's working fine.
As much as I hate to dump a WU @ 63%.....I don't know. Maybe I'll leave the Xeons up long enough to finish their WUs.
Thanks for the help.
Did you just delete the core and restart if so then it should have not d/l a new wu it shouold have got a new core and continued.??????strange. something must have been fubar with that wu. Good to know you got it going.
63% ouch!!

Yeah, I've done it many times, I just take the whole folding file in my home directory, put it on a flash drive and copy it to the new machines home directory. Of course I've only done it in Ubuntu Linux 64 bit, so it may be different in other OS's
