View Full Version : Orbs on Visiontek GeForce2?
I am thinking about getting a Blue or Crystal Orb to cool my video card. After reading many tutorials, it seems as if all video cards have pin holes to attach these things, but when I look at my card, I don't see anything protruding out the back where pins would go through. 1) Am I nuts? 2) Has anyone put one of these on a Visiontek GeForce2 MX400?

you could resort to thermal tape.....some of it works decent....
or you could epoxy the cooler to the GPU
and i think somewhere on this forum there is a post about making a clip a hs (sorry i dont know it offhand)
No one else modded a card such as mine? C'mon, men! Help me out.
The fans and ramsinks that come with the Visiontek are very good!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't remove them after all if you got the orb's you would have to lap them and its a real hassle.
Just my 0.02. But no matter what there should be pins coming out of the back unless Visiontek used some other method to stick it on.,

Zap,
Read my response to this thread (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35853)
PS for a mx400 a blue Orb or Crystal orb would suffice but the thread above is mainly for high end cards, but would work for a MX400 if you wanted to push the envelope ;)

Crystal Orb your Geforce card and apply ASII between heatsink and gpu. Use couple dabs superglue in each corner of the gpu to attach Crystal Orb.
Check my pic of my modded Radeon 7500 with Crystal Orb and ramsinks with ASII on ram and gpu. Superglue was used to attach the ramsinks and Orb.
The Orb works wonders for my 7500. I reached a overclock of 342/562 and I think it will do 345/570 with a card cooler added to the case. That is screaming fast!!!!!!!
Don't worry about using the clips and holes supplied with the Orb. I was not able to use them, just attach Orb as I explained it is fine

You think lapping is a hassle? Try building a SLORB (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51271)
PS Superglue is a ghetto way to attach the GPU heatsink, USE arctic Alumina Adhesive as its not that expensive and a very good product, much better than Arctic Silver themal Adhesive and cheaper to boot.
